Solange, Beyonce's younger sister engages to boyfriend of 5 years

Solange Knowles celebrated her 28th birthday on yesterday with her boyfriend of five years.
It was a double celebration for her as her 51-year-old video producer boyfriend Alan Ferguson proposed to her on Monday.

Meanwhile Solange who was married to Daniel Smith, her high school sweetheart and the father of her son Daniel Julez, from 2004 to 2007 when they divorced.

The pair wed in the Bahamas in February 2004, when Solange was just 17 and pregnant with their son.

Despite their split, Solange has nothing but praise for her ex.
'We co-parent really well,' she said. 'I'm able to say, "I need to finish this album, can you step up and take care of the boy?"'

Psychiatric patient stabs herbalist to death

A 24-year-old psychiatric patient, Iijisakin Ayoola, has reportedly stabbed to death his 60-year-old traditional doctor - a Muslim cleric known as Alfa Iliasu Waheed, in Idanre, Ondo State.
Consequently, the Police in Akure has detained the suspect.
The suspect reportedly stabbed the traditional doctor in the neck with a broken bottle which caused his death.
It was gathered that the deceased before his death specialized in healing psychiatric patients and that the suspect, after stabbing the deceased also attempted to set the house ablaze before he was later apprehended.

The shout for help from the deceased attracted his neighbours who rushed to the Police station in Alade‑Idanre Divisional Police Headquarters.
The DPO, SP Martins Ohalete, reportedly dispatched a team to the scene of the crime where they met the deceased in a pool of his blood. Although he was rushed to the general hospital, he died before any treatment could be administered on him.

Fraudster withdraws N1.9m through ATM

In apparent reflection of the rising incidence of electronic payment fraud, a fraudster withdrew N1.9 million from  the bank account of a customer through ATM in one week.
This was disclosed by  Tam Tamunokonbia, Head, Consumer Protection Council, Lagos Office.  Speaking at the maiden summit of Bank Customers Association of Nigeria (BCAN) in Lagos last week, he said that ATM fraud is one of the commonest complaints received by the Council  from bank customers.
He said in addition to this are: Illegal bank charges as against the minimum re-discount rate; Non-disclosure of terms and conditions by Banks and financial service providers; Mobile Payment Systems – online trading and Improper cheque verification.

Pregnant woman dies, others injured in auto accidents

A driver of a commercial bus marked XQ 521 KTU on Saturday crushed a pregnant woman to death in the Mangoro, Lagos area of the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway while her one and half year-old daughter sustained minor bruises in the face.

Mrs. Itodo Ellen, who was said to be seven months pregnant, lived with her husband on Babapanmile Street, Mangoro Estate before the accident.

It was gathered that the woman was going for antenatal when she was crushed to death.

It was said that the driver fled from the scene immediately the accident occurred, leaving the bus behind.

A commercial motorcyclist at the estate’s gate, identified simply as Samuel, described the incident as unfortunate.

Samuel explained that a bus driver had waited for the 24-year-old woman to cross to the other side of the road.

He added that another oncoming bus on top speed overtook the waiting bus and slammed into the woman

Mr Peter Ayodele Fayose of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been elected Governor of Ekiti state.
Ayodele-FayoseThe Returning Officer for the 2014 governorship elections and Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Oye- Ekiti, Professor Isaac Azuzu announced the results of the governorship elections in Ekiti State declaring the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Mr Ayodele Fayose, who was governor of Ekiti State from 29 May 2003 to 16 October 2006, winner of the contest.
Mr Fayose scored a total of 203090 to defeat other candidates who participated in the exercise.

A Briton, Dr. Mark Walker, has returned to the Oba of Benin, two bronze works carted away by his great grandfather 117 years ago during the invasion of Benin by British soldiers.

The two bronze artefacts, a  long-beaked bird and a bell, which were removed by his great  grandfather, Captain Philip Walker, in 1897, were received by the Oba at a reception organized in honour of the Briton in Benin.

The monarch, Oba Erediauwa, who would mark his birthday in few days time, described the return of the antiquities as the best birthday gifts he had ever  received.

The Oba, however, urged the other descendants of soldiers who fought in Benin and still kept the objects in their homes to emulate Dr. Adrian Walker’s friendly gesture and return the objects in their possession.

Dr. Walker, who expressed delight  that the cultural antiquities were returned to their place of origin, noted that he was thankful to Oba and people of Benin for not rebuking him on account of his grandfather’s

Pakistan woman gang raped, hanged on tree

Pakistan police said on Friday in Islamabad, that security was investigating the case of a 20-year-old woman who was gang raped, murdered and hanged on a tree.

Ilyas Ahmed, Police Investigator, said the victim Muzamil Bibi, disappeared from her home in the south-eastern district of Layyah in Punjab province shortly after midnight on Thursday.

He said hours later, family members found her body hanging on a tree in nearby fields.

Ahmed said there were signs of torture on the body and an autopsy confirmed she was gang raped before

UK teacher sentenced to 14 months in jail for having sex with teenager.t

A married maths teacher has been placed on the sex offenders’ register for having sex with a 16-year-old girl.

Andrew Welsh, 36, was also given a 14-month jail term, suspended for two years, and ordered to carry out 200 hours of community service after being caught by the girl’s mother, who found him hiding under the bed.

Bolton Crown Court heard he was caught when the the girl’s mother returned home unexpectedly one morning last July.

Geoff Whelan, prosecuting, told the jury the girl had ruffled hair and smudged lipstick.

When the mother went upstairs, she noticed a pair of men’s boots at the side of the girl’s bed, he added.

Ghana’s government quietly reintroduced fuel subsidies in April, and has spent about $85m since then in extra payments, the head of the Chamber of Bulk Oil Distributors told Reuters on Friday.
The subsidies were scrapped early last year in a bid to reduce the budget deficit and restore macro-economic stability in Ghana.
The reintroduction has not been publicly announced and senior government officials were unavailable for comment.

Wonders they say will never end. Here is this Brazilian family with every member of the family having six fingers. They claim is hereditary and they are loving it and flaunting it.
They join the rest of the South American nation in crossing their fingers hoping the Pentacampeoes will add to its record five World Cup titles.

3 feared dead as flyover collapses in Asaba, Delta state.

The construction of a flyover at the popular Inter-Bau Roundabout in Asaba came under threat yesterday as workers stopped work in protest of alleged insensitivity of the management of the contracting firm, CCC Limited, following the collapse of a pile pit on three of the workers.

The affected workers, who were feared dead were rushed to the Federal Medical Centre by officials of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC).

According to eyewitness account, the pile pit with a depth of over 20 feet and designed to hold the beams on which the flyover rests, collapsed on the victims at about 11a.m.

The protesting workers said they were aggrieved because of the insistence of the management that they should return to work after the tragic incident. They sustained the protest despite efforts by armed policemen to restore normalcy.

Well the guy is at it again. He has been consistently attacking Nigeria's foremost seer, Prophet TB Joshua, and this time, he says Prophet Joshua killed the late former Ghana President, Professor John Evans Atta Mills, who was one of Joshua's best friends and adherent.
The juju man who has never been comfortable with Prophet TB Joshua growing influence in the politics of Ghana and once vowed to report the man at the Synagogue Church of All Nations to the Pope, also said that TB Joshua is not a true man of God and that he uses magic and tricks to mislead people through his prophecies.
He also claimed that the editors at the Synagogue fabricate deliverance sessions, confessions, predictions of world events and then post it on the Internet and demonstrate same on the church's Emmanuel TV.
As a final catch, Bonsam says he will lead other juju men in Ghana to spiritually attack the branch of Prophet TB Joshua's church in the Gold Coast.

Angry indigenes of Okoroba community in Nembe Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, led by a 90-year- old woman, Madam Omiekumo Numo, yesterday, protested against the abandonment of the Opume-Okoroba Road project by the Federal Government.
The 10 km road project, which is to link the coastal town of Okoroba to mainland Ogbia Local Government Area, was awarded in 2011 to Mangrovtech, now known as Kakatar’ce by Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.
The project, it was learnt, was abandoned on the grounds of alleged disagreement over compensation and non- availability of sand.
