Multiple award winning rap artist and producer Jude MI Abaga while speaking as a panelist at the recently held Nigeria Entertainment Conference in Lagos decried the increasingly heavy costs to shooting standard music videos in the industry.
MI said in unequivocal terms that it is now “outrageously expensive” to shoot music videos adding that it gets even more difficult as sponsors are not forthcoming. He said this in turn makes it difficult to put out good music.
According to MI “I have a record label called Loppy records and I must say it’s not been easy. Please if there is a sponsor here who can help me, please I need help”
I kinda quite agree with MI. People are now living lavida bu just being a video director (I mean no disrespect to the profession). But, imagine N5 million just to shoot a video of few scenes and some semi naked girls shakinf dem bumbum.....common! Well maybe we need more TALENTED guys in that area to increase competition and drive down the price. I also think we should patronize more local content all leave all those SA directors....abi is it only in Cape Town we can shoot videos?
Finally, if you think your pocket is deep enough to sponsor MI, kindly contact him on twitter @MI_Abaga
